Healing from Electrosensitivity Body, Mind and Spirit

As I look back on my 20 year journey of searching for answers; all that I went through to get to where I am today – healthy, vibrant and happy; all the monies I spent on consultants, therapies and products, doctors and natural therapists; there are some great things that stand out above the others, that moved my healing forward in leaps and bounds and that I am delighted to share with you.

My experience has taught me that we are indeed body, mind and spirit. I firmly believe, we must address all parts in order to experience true healing. This is good news because the things that we can do to heal the mind and spirit can be a small investment financially but a huge investment physically and emotionally. My goal here is to give you things you can do for very little money as well as for those who are more fortunate to have some money to invest.


Reducing the amount of electromagnetic and radio frequency radiation in your environment by choosing safer options can bring almost immediate results. In my course at the International Institute for Building-Biology® & Ecology, they say this; “…the primary job of every home is to create an environment that allows this biological mystery called human life to flourish.” They ask, “Have you ever spent time in a building that embraced and nourished you…body and soul, one that awakened and delighted your senses?” And they answer, “In order for us to be truly natural and healthy, our homes need to supply us with adequate opportunity to rest and relax, they need to nurture, as it is only through that, that we can truly recuperate at the end of the day and recharge with the strength to deal with the next day’s emotional and physical stresses.”


Having amalgam fillings removed with a Biological or Holistic dentist was one of the most remarkable changes I experienced! And it was instantaneous. I can’t express how important it is though to do this properly, firstly through the advice of a Naturopath who will look at whether you are strong enough physically to handle this procedure or whether your body needs to get prepared for such a detox. It is of equal importance to have the removal done through a qualified Biological or Holistic dentist.

If you are experiencing pain anywhere in your body, you may want to look into the “Melt Method” by Sue Hitzmann. It is a program that one can do at home which addresses chronic pain throughout the system. Take it slow as the book and DVD’s suggest. As with many healing therapies, increased symptoms can be initially experienced but I do know, from experience, that this is short-lived with this program, which for me, offered immediate results. www.meltmethod.com. I also found the do-at-home exercises in the book, “Pain Free” by Pete Egoscue with Roger Gittines extremely helpful. They provided almost instant relief.

Detoxing the body. This is extremely important to healing but comes with a cautionary warning to those who are ill – do this slowly and with advice from a natural practitioner. When one is truly ill, the body can react to a sudden influx of toxins that are being released from the system. This is not a time to ‘self advise’. A professional has ways to test your system and knows how to approach this safely.

Baking soda & sea salt baths are great for taking EMF’s & RF’s off of your skin after you have had more exposure than you can deal with. Use 1 cup of each in a hot bath. Soak for 15 – 20 minutes then rinse with a cool shower, increasing to colder if you can handle it. The hot bath releases the toxins and the cold shower ensures that you do not reabsorb them.

The following therapies were also particularly helpful and well worth the financial investment: Cranial Sacral treatments, through an appropriately trained specialist is beautifully calming to the nervous system, Ozone Insufflation or Direct IV treatments brought my sensitivity way down, and PEMF Mats (pulsed electromagnetic fields) are highly beneficial on an on-going basis (although expensive to buy, they are worth the purchase – or there are spas and clinics that offer sessions for very little money).


It is essential to retrain your brain. If you want to THRIVE instead of survive, and to stop running and hiding, going through a program based on the latest discoveries from the world of Neuroscience is an excellent way to do this. It is one thing to feel good in your own environment, but quite another to feel good no matter where you go! I want to be very clear here – It is not that EHS is not real, or that your symptoms are not real. They are very much real. But the condition itself causes the Limbic brain to be on high alert all the time. It is an unconscious, automatic mechanism that happens in the brain without our conscious knowledge. By retraining the brain, it allows this automatic mechanism to stop. It actually stops the brain from dumping the chemicals of stress (adrenaline, cortisol etc.) into your body. It stops your reactions and your symptoms. I tried several methods. They all had value. There are two DVD and workbook programs available that are geared towards people with conditions such as ElectroHyperSensitivity, MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and that one can send away for. I would suggest looking at both and choosing the one that resonates with you the most. They are:

The Gupta Programme by Ashtok Gupta. Although his program tends to concentrate more on Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and some of the other conditions mentioned above, it can be easily applied to EHS. You can check it out at www.guptaprogramme.com.

The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS) by Annie Hopper. If you are the kind of person who needs to start with something that explains the science behind the actual illness as it relates to EHS, then I suggest starting with one of these two programs. I for one, really needed to understand the specific details as they related to my condition. My personal favorite of the neuroscience workshops is the ground-breaking work of Dr. Joe Dispenza. His work is not geared towards an illness. I found this important because it took me out of the illness. Although it is an essential part of the process to acknowledge the past symptoms, after four months of the DNRS program, I was well enough and ready to step out of that energy. I needed something else. Dr. Joe’s work supplied that beyond my expectations. It is for everybody who wants to change their lives in extraordinary ways. Neuroptimal treatments can be another way to go. This is a neurofeedback program that retrains your brain for you. I have done a series of these, but found it better not to combine the Neuroptimal with the other retraining programs. I would choose one or the other and see how you do with it. www.zengar.com


Raise your frequency. We are electric, magnetic beings. We each have our own frequency. And we attract those frequencies in the environment which are similar to ours – both beneficial and detrimental. When we are ill, we have a lower frequency and attract other low frequencies. But we have the ability to raise our frequency to be in resonance and harmony with higher States of Being. All the programs in the MIND section help to do this. As well, I have found the following to be of particular benefit:

Meditation is the easiest method to employ. It may not be so easy to actually meditate at first due to the constant ‘chatter’ of the mind but, with practice and commitment, it will bring you to greater and greater states of calm. A guided meditation program designed with a specific intent to be healed can be very powerful. There are many good ones out there. You can google “guided meditations to heal” or something similar and try a number of them and see what resonates with you. The programs above also offer guided meditations. As well it can be done at no cost or at the very low cost of buying a CD and training yourself in the privacy of your own home. Initially, I could not be near a CD player so I would put it in another room and turn it up louder. It is well worth your investment of time.

Above all, do not get overwhelmed. This is an opportunity to change your life in incredible ways. You do not necessarily have to give up all your technological toys – just use them more mindfully and choose alternate options. Some who are more sensitive, may need to do this temporarily until they can heal. But you can heal! I know because I’ve done it! Life is great and YOU CAN THRIVE!

Please keep in mind that everyone is different with EHS. Everyone can experience a different combination of symptoms and illnesses and what may work for one, may not for another. My doctor at the Environmental Clinic at Women’s College Hospital told me that if someone experiences about 8 or more of the symptoms associated with EHS, which have not been attributed to any other illness, then it is likely that they have some degree of sensitivity to electromagnetic and radio frequency fields and would do well to reduce their exposure and make some changes. Before undergoing any therapeutic procedure, it is advisable to first check with your doctor or naturopath to ensure that the therapy is right for you.
